Well it was another opening day of pheasant hunting with my Uncle and cozins. The day started out with lots of rain up by fish point waterfowl area. The first field I wanted to hunt was full of trucks after checking 2 others we found one with no trucks, unloaded the dogs and started walking covered the area with nothing. Headed to another cover I knew of (first people in this one) unloaded the dogs and put up a rooster that I managed to miss, hit another cover with no luck (still raining)
Head over to some state land in GageTown, again first 3 fields full of people and trucks. finely find one that is empty and unload the dogs this field gives up a hen, find another field that gives up a woodcock that I manage to bag. Hunt tow more fields with nothing but wet clothes and boots to show for it.
All in all it wasn't a bad day.

Secound day found us hunting in Yale on the 116 property in unit C. Before we can get to the main part of the field we have a point and up goes a rooster that my cozin manages to miss. Continue into the field along the east edge and up goes 3 hens. Follow the fallow edge around the field on the west side we put up another hen, get to the south/west corner and up goes a hen and just past that we get up what we think is a rooster, as we head for the 2 track the dogs start getting birdy and take off at a run as they hit the 2 track we see a rooster get up in unit B. Not bad first field of the day (at 10am) and 8 birds with 3 roosters.
Head back towards Gagetown and the state land. We manage to put up 4 hens with no roosters. Its been a prety good pheasant season so far 14 birds in 2 days.
Day 3 again finds us in Yale on 116, (both units b/c). We only put up 5 birds today with 2 roosters takeing 1 of them. Again the roosters came from the side of the 2 track prior to the main field with the hens comming from the fallow around the main field. We also seen about 75 geese in the neighbors bean field with several flocks flying close enough for some shooting on club property. Giving us a 3 day total of 19 birds flushed with only 6 of them being roosters. We should have a good bunch of birds for next year.
