Curious why all the flourescent ribbons are popping up throughout the Monroe property. I noticed alot of this in the Spring. Now new ones are popping up along the new trails. I think we should refrain from this for two reasons. First is that its kind of an eye sore and I wouldn't want the landowner raising an issue. Second is that a couple of the trails have been cut for a specific purpose. I set two stands up during the summer and had to cut two trails to access the stands. So they lead right to the stands. Then in front of the stands I cut two trails that run east/west for the specific purpose of trying to pattern deer to use them. Along these trails I've created some mock rub and scrape lines and been conditioning them. Again in hopes of patterning some deer to start using them. Lighting these trails up like the Mardi Gras will draw alot of human traffic plus probably alarm the deer. I've also set game cameras up along these trails. I realize some folks will walk along them but keeping things toned down would be better all around.
The majority of trails cut this summer are pretty big and intended to allow members to access the core areas of the property. Theres a trail that runs East and West along the Southern boundary. One that runs North and South along the West boundary. And one that runs North and South along the East boundary. Also one that runs into the center of the property towards the small clearing. If some folks need visual references perhaps we could use those clothes line style clips that attach to a limb. These are pretty obscure looking and can easily be removed. We got a good chunk of work done this year and plan to do another round of work this coming Spring to open the property up even further. Want to put a small walking bridge over the drainage ditch, etc.
