Folks, we are trying to organize a spring clean-up on several properties before the hunting season gets here. On The 104 property for example we would like to remove the trash, clear out the debris, set some posts, and wire off a parking space off of Weyer Rd. We have a trailer and a small tractor as well as the new saw to clean up some of the trail but we are looking for some willing bodies to help make this happen. Who would be willing to lend a hand in this clean up and what days work the best for everybody? Saturday’s and or Sunday’s work best for me. (4-12 or 4-13), (4-19 or 4-20), (4-26 or 4-27), (5-3 or 5-4), (5-10 or 5-11).
Please acknowledge as soon as possible for necessary planning.

Thanks, Jeff

4-19 or 5-10 would be best on my schedule, right now.

Those are good dates to highlight as they are the same dates that ASC will acquire new leases on the east side. Very Very big day indead.

I will try and make it for the clean day. Please post the date once it's determined.

Folks,
I have moved the post, not relevant to the spring cleanup to:

http://teamasc.forumco.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=810

Please keep the discussion on this thread to the spring cleanup. All others will be deleted. Thanks.

Just a thought maybe wait until turkey season is over to do spring clean up, or at least don't plan a weekend during the season.

Well you weren't kidding about the garbage out there. I was on the property today doing some scouting and the garbage isn't just at the parking area. Someone even left garbage out by the boat on the big pond... must've been during goose hunting. It's pretty embarrasing if it is our guys leaving that stuff out there. Everything from shotgunn shells to chairs to beer bottles to plastic ears of corn!!

We ought to start implementing a policy where we all carry small plastic sacks and make an effort to tote stuff out each time we visit a property. I know when I go geo-caching everyone does that... it's implied as part of the sport. They even have a slogan (cache-in, trash-out).

Brian,
Witch boat are you refering to? I was out there over the weekend placing the wood duck boxes and never seen the items your refering to other than the ear of plastic corn and I thought I picked that up. We only went as far as the green canoue (boat launch area) on the big pond then headed back to the west to place the woodduck box infront of the big tree on the chanel. I havent been much past that spot all year even when I was traping. I know the decoys that where left at the corner (by the bush) where left for membership use I believe.

By the way I know this is off topic but who ever left the decoys in the cattails in the middle of that pond is going to be looking for a long time for them as the water is up and they have floated away I'm sure. The water levels are at the same as when I started hunting out there back in 2004.

The last I was out there was around the first week of November and I never noticed any plastic corn cobs or beer bottles. Since it's against club policy to drink alcohol on the property I would be surprised if it was a member that left it.

Brian I personally use the method you reffered to. I grab my spent shells and any thing else that came out with me and toss it in my deco pack to through out when I get home. Other members I have hunted with out there have gone also done the same.

The area where I saw this was on the south side of largest pond (unit D). If you look at the map, it's straight south of the 'P' in 'Pond Unit D'.

There is a 3rd boat there, camolage brown/green (not the same one that is sitting at the beaver pond and different than the green one sitting at the ramp icon on the SW side of the big pond on the map).

And the duck boxes look beautiful.. they really spice up the place!

I just don't want the owner thinking we are trashing the property. This is one of my favorites for fishing and hunting and I surely don't want to lose the lease because of our carelessness with littering... if it's even us.
