I've checked the harvest reports for the 2007 deer seasons, and the results are: 51 members booked at least once for deer hunting. We harvested 56 deer, of which 19 were bucks. At least 5 bucks were over the 125" minimum size for Pope & Young qualification. Our busiest day was the firearm opener, when 37 of our 56 units were booked. We will have more data in the end-of-season newsletter. By the way, two 140ish eight pointers survived that I chased around during December.

I know of 1 more 120+ that survived on one of the propertys. It was seen by the neighbors, I think I have also seen him but am not sure. From the discription (sp?) I got from the neighbors its out side the ears (quite a bit) and the G-2's are about 10" long from what I have heard, I've never got a good look at the horns.

Hey John,
Were the 2 eights on club property? I don't see any harvest reports from you for this season.

Brian,
One was on Unit 104, the other was on a property we will lease this Spring. Got photos of the buck on 104, but didn't hunt the unit this year. I have a friend in Imlay City who saw the deer on January 1st crossing Weyer Rd. with two smaller bucks. I'll send the pic to Todd to put on the Photo Gallery. |

Why isn't the buck on the front of the new ASC homepage in the harvest reports?

John, that must be the same buck I seen. All I can say is he is a brute. By the way this is not the deer that ran my uncle or myself over while out woodcock hunting.

Hi,
Will a .pdf file be generated again this year summarizing the property harvests?
Thanks,

Dan, I don't think it is possible to do this year. I started doing it, and put it off after just 2 or 3 properties were done. I started looking into a way to automate it, there is just too much data there for a person to sift through by hand. With the season coming up and all the website problems we've had, I just don't have time to finish it. Once I get a program that sorts through this stuff, I will run a retroactive one for all the years we have had the system. If anyone is really good with Excel macros or Visual Basic or something like that maybe we can work out something to have it done. I can print out files for each property but it includes all seasons and all years since the system was in use. I need a way to take that file and compile a summary of animals seen, harvested, and lost, for each season, and for each year. Not really complicated, just need time to do it.
If you want, I can send you an Excel file that has the harvest info for your farm.

| I understand, and I believe you are probably the hardest worker in the club. Now that I have buttered you up a little it would be great to get a report on the farm (116). It gives me an idea of what is working and what areas need improvement. Speaking of deer we saw some nice velvet 100yrds down the road from the house. Between the road and corn. It just stood there and watched us drive by. The rack was about 6 inches above the ears and just starting to branch out. We will probably see a lot of him between now and november and then he will disappear. |

Dan, Thanks for the compliment, I don't work nearly as hard as I need to. Wish I could devote a lot more time to the club, but work and family life limit me to a couple hours in the evening. Oh, and you have mail. Let me know if the format doesn't work, I know not everyone has Excel.
