Well made it out for another openingday Pheasant hunt. Hunted with my cousin up in the Fish point area. We ended up seeing 2 birds 1 hen and 1 rooster with my cousin shooting the rooster. My son hunted with a budy of his on his budys place. They seen 1 rooster with no shots. I found out my dogs are way out of shap. My liver shorthair was dead by the third field we entered. My white shorthair was fine for the boy's and rearing to go after the field they hunted. I'm going to go try and get more birds next saturday over on the yale property. All in all every one I know that went out today did prety good. with about 25 wild birds seen out of 4 groups of hunters. Not bad for michigan where there hasn't been any birds sence the 60's or so. By the way we didn't hunt the 115 property with the bean's there was no cover for the birds.
Hope every one else that went out had a good day and got to see some birds.

We hunted 121 and 123. Last year, I had my 2 birds in under 20 minutes. This year, only flushed one bird and it was a wild flush, not even sure it was a rooster. Was way too hot. Dogs had a hard time scenting. Had about half a dozen points, but nothing there.
My setter who lasted 4 days of 4-5 hr runs in the grouse woods only lasted about 2 hrs today. Need some cooler temps. Where is fall?
We jumped a few birds while rabbit hunting on 114E They jumped out in the corn but I didn't see them. I was stuck fighting the battle of the rose bushes and loseing. Cover is still real thick in there.
More of the same today. I did almost get a shot at a young rooster today. If he'd a waited another 30 seconds to flush, I'd a had a legit shot. Young of the year birds running like old vetereans, he didn't even have his tail feathers, yet. Just a black head.
Yes Willy it can be called gray. Gray/Silver and GM calls it some other color. I was going to stop in and see you but didn't want to inturpt your hunting with your dad. Wasn't sure if you where deer hunting or smallgame hunting.
Going to go out again this weekend for some birds. Hoping this weather cools off for the weekend.

You should have looked for us. We were running the beagles and you would have been wecolme to hunt with us. Dad saw your truck but you were gone before he got out of the brush. There was some birds in the corn so we could have used your dogs
