Zone 2 (northern lower peninsula) Canada Goose: MVP Oct.6-Nov.12, Nov. 22-Nov.28 (45 days) 2 birds Duck: Sept.29-Nov.25 Dec.1-Dec.2 (60 days)
Zone 3 (southern lower peninsula) Canada Goose: MVP Oct.6-Nov.12 Nov. 22-Nov.28 (45 days) Canada Goose: SJBP Oct. 6- Oct. 14 Nov.22-Dec.12 (30 days) Duck: Oct. 6-Dec.2 Jan.5-Jan.6 (60 days)
Bag limits for ducks: 4 mallards (1 hen), 1 black (60 days), 1 pintail (60 days), 2 canvasback (60 days), 2 woodducks, 2 redheads, 2 scaup, total of 6 ducks as allowed under the USFWS framework.
5 mergansers, 2 of which can be hooded mergansers
Regular season goose limit: 2 per day (except Huron/Tuscola & Saginaw Co. GMU’s which are 1 per day)
Late goose: Jan5- Feb.3 (30 days) Bag limit 5 per day
• Allegan GMU: 11/24-12/2 & 12/27-1/31 • Muskegon Wastewater GMU: follow last year’s framework as closely as possible • Tuscola/Huron GMU & Saginaw Co. GMU: open concurrent with the duck season and run for 50 days or until quotas are reached
Youth waterfowl weekend, early goose season, and the opening date for the regular Canada goose season in the UP are unchanged from 2006. These were discussed at the spring CWAC meeting.
• Youth weekend: 9/15-9/16 • Early Canada goose season (3 bird daily limit) 1. North Zone & Tuscola, Huron, and Saginaw Counties: 9/1-9/10 2. Middle & South Zones (excluding Tuscola, Huron, and Saginaw Counties): 9/1-9/15 • Upper Peninsula MVP Unit Canada goose regular season: 9/18-11/1
