Ok. Got it.

My name is Joe Dickerson and I moved to Michigan 10 years ago. I just started hunting deer about 5 years ago. I started with deer and so far that's my favorite, but I also started pheasant about 3 years ago. The next dog I get will be a lab with some hunting bloodlines so I can take the pooch hunting with me.

I joined because the land I hunt on is being reshaped and isn't as good as it once was. It's only 10 acres, but lots of deer. Well I keep getting the spots I can hunt on the land limited. So I found ASC and saved up my money and joined. I plan on practicing up on my archery skills( skills is a loose term) and going deer archery hunting this year. So if any of you can think of a good area to start scouting first in the Ypsi area, I'd appreciate. If you don't want to give away your good spots I can uderstand.

Hope to see some of you soon.

Joe

Joe,
Welcome to ASC. If you want to get some practice in this weekend, I will have some targets at the Annual Meeting. Everyone is welcome to come up and work on their archery skills. Also, I shoot at Washtenaw Sportsmen's Club every Wednesday evening. We start at 6pm and shoot 20 3D targets, usually done around 8pm. Non-members are welcome to come shoot with us, I believe it is $8 to shoot. Washtenaw has some of the top archery shooters in the state and even some national contenders. There is always someone there who can help you with shooting form and setup. I know it has drastically improved my shooting. As far as good spots to hunt. Lenawee has always been good to me, and the Hillsdale properties provide lots of potential. One that I think is a real sleeper is the Monroe property, and I intend to spend some time down there as well.

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it this weekend. Bums me out.

Are you a member at Washtenaw? I'm a member, but just haven't been involved with the archery stuff, but want to get there. When does the wed shooting end?

Thanks for the tip. I appreciate it a lot!

Yes, I am a member out there. Mainly only spend time on the 3D archery league. Unfortunately, this past Wednesday was our last league event. However, the 3D course is set up and you can shoot it for $6 any time you want. I plan to shoot a few more times on Wed evenings on my own. If you want to schedule a time to meet up and shoot it, give me a shout.
