Poll Question:
Guys,

I'm starting to build new maps for all of the new properties we've leased and I'm wondering if taking the time to add Topo Maps are necessary or not? If I just use the aerial maps then I can make the size of the photos larger and more visable of the terrain and features of each property?

Would you be ok just having an aerial photo and not a topo map?

Yea Mike,

I think that we should just stick with aerial photographs. It is much easier for us to break up and identify property lines with aerial photographs and most of us can get a good understanding of the lay of the land. There are times when a Topo is necessary but for those times a simple click on the Topo button is all we would need to do.

If anyone needs a Topo of the area they want to hunt and doesn’t have access to a computer then we should be able to accommodate them.

Send me what you can and I’ll do my part to coordinate a posting party.

J.

I was thinking if we could include a address to the property. Dad made the point if someone got hurt where would we tell emergency services to go.

Will -

Most properties don't have addresses, that's why we give directions to the properties and try and provide the exact locations of the parking areas.

If you are using a digital cell phone, it will send gps coordinants to the 911 dispatcher. Adding gps coords of the parking area could help everyone involved. It could be placed at the bottom of the directions.

You know if you put those gps numbers on the conformation. We have been printing them out when we go out.

I think that larger aerial photos would work out better. I do however like the idea of having the gps coordinats on the bottom of the directions. If you like the topo maps and have the coordinants it would be easy to look them up and print your own larger more detailed topo than the one the club provides now.
