A little late, but we hunted last week Monday and Tuesday for doves. Our scouting had shown lots of birds right up until the cold front moved in. Tuesday dawned with very few birds flying. We managed to down 9 between 4 adults and 2 kids, in 3 hrs of hunting. Missed a lot of birds, since they were flying pretty high, and I didn't have my choke tubes. Could have increased our take with some mod tubes in the barrel.
Packed up to head to the hotel to find that my new starter was bad. Luckily, Mike from our group towed us into a little dive of a place in Clyde that was a 20 minute walk from our hotel and they put in a new one.
Headed back out a little late on Wednesday because my phone speaker went bad and we couldn't hear the alarm. No worries, as we were only the 5th car there. Had the field we wanted with a nice roost tree all to ourselves. Managed to bag 6 birds, one being my son's first. Again having the tubes would have improved our shooting, but we managed.
All in all, not the greatest, but we had a good time.
