I am going to throw this out to see what kind of response I get. I am considering going to Kansas on a archery hunt this year. The prime period for the rut from my experience, falls within the window of Nov 6-19. I am not sure when I would be going? I may consider missing the gun opener in MI. Or even heading out before and returning just before. The 17th on might even be OK. The nice thing about the archery tag, after gun season the hunting is still pretty good. If you have not tagged one you could return. The full moon is Nov 2.
My biggest road block right now, I am laid off. Lot's of time but short on money. So if I go, it would be a cheap hunt. I would drive out and scout, public and club property. I have hunted some public ground and done well. They have actually pushed pheasant season later so the public ground will not be hunted until Nov 14. If we get a large enough group we can go pretty cheap. Tags are $322 plus and regular license which adds another $77. The NE units all have leftover tags. I know the area some.
I have found state park cabins that are quite reasonable.
If anyone is interested, let me know.
