Can someone tell me what the law is on using a centerfire in zone 3 for coyote. I am getting mixed answers even from dnr officers. Some say yes but only at night, some say yes anytime but for only yotes, and some say no. Thanks Oger

Ok Oger, First and formost the officer you will meet in the field is the one to answer this qustion, as he is the one that could write you a ticket. Now for my "personal" explanation.... you can use a centerfire rifle during daylight hunting for coyote and fox also for varmit hunting in zone 3 on private land.
In my experance dealing with the Michigan DNR is a crapshoot at best, I have found that the best thing to do when something is qustionable is to find the DNR officer that protrols your area and ask him what his thoughts are on the subject. Unless you know exactualy what the law is conserning what your doing then make sure you have it in writting.
I hope this answers your qustions.

| you can use centerfire during the day, but not at night. I am 100% sure of that. Must use rimfire or shotgun at night, also at night you can not use buckshot. |

Or slugs at night. And you can use centerfire for any small game or just plinking around. If you really wanted to, you could shoot rabbits and squirrels with a centerfire. The only limitation on them is for deer hunting in Zone 3.
