Well, another dove opener is past us. Unfortunately this one was less than stellar. I spent all day Saturday looking for birds, and ended up as far south as our Union Co property. Saw plenty of birds, but they were widely scattered due to the large amount of wheat planted this year in OH. Monday morning was beautiful. We got to the fields with time to spare and set up right where I wanted to be. Then we waited, and waited, and waited. No birds. By 10 am pretty much everyone had left the fields. We moved, but most of our group opted to head for home. Was a wise decision in hind sight, since we never fired a shot. We had 8 adults and 2 kids hunting. I think there were a total of 5 shots fired. On the good note the one bird that our group did manage to shoot was by one of the kids. Absolute worst opener I've ever had in OH, and close to the worst hunt I've had in hunting doves in 3 different states for over 10 years.

I'm headed back down this afternoon to try and get a few on the roost in the evening.

We saw lots of birds, just were spead out all over the place and hard to get any shots at. I was back down last night. The front moving through kinda messed us up since the birds went to roost early, but we saw a lot more birds on the fields than on Monday. Still didn't manage to hit any, though.

I seen plenty of Doves this past weekend down in Ohio. I was in a small southern town called Chillicothe kinda between Columbus and Cincinati. Noone was hunting them though, we also seen lots of geese while I was there. We where at the Ross Co. fair grounds for the weekend. I hope you got some shooting in this afternoon.
