Posted - 11/04/2009 : 21:24:18 I know with firearms deer season approaching majority of us have mickey moose on our minds. I just want to throw out there that once the corn is off in Hillsdale and depending on weather etc. I think the late season goose should be decent. I have seen a TON of birds out there since late August.
Again field hunting (or any waterfowl) in late season is very weather dependent but come late Dec. and a week prior I i will be out scouting the properties and area for birds. I have a couple of layout blinds and the decoys and have been known to kill a couple of those sky carp for anyone who has ever been interested in trying it or if you have plans to get on them yourself...lets team up and try and shoot them up. Waterfowl/goose hunting is a great way too get to kow fellow hunters/members since you can spend a lot of time between volleys shooting the bull!
Post up if you think this may interest you and we can all connect as the late season draws near...I know may be too soon for this thread but just posting now since I have the time and have ducks and gees on my mind since this Sunday will be only my third trip out to the river this year...darn work!!!
Thanks Steve

Posted - 01/04/2010 : 06:35:27 Well unfortunatley I scouted a bit out in hillsdale on friday after picking up the rest of my decoys blinds from a friend in mid michigan and it seemed majority of geese moved out with the weather just prior to opener. So made the call to hunt the river here in wyandotte by my home for the Saturday opener. Not bad shot 16 ducks with the crew. Sunday was sketchy with a lot of new ice coming down so we waitied till after light to insure we could get out. If the weather changes and some birds move back in and anyone wants to join up to hunt in Hillsdale just shoot me a PM or call my cell 313-477-2484 and we can try and kill some birds!!!

Posted - 12/15/2009 : 08:17:31 Steve, Goose Lake behind 128 is very late freezing. Holds birds well into January most years. Even if they aren't landing in the fields, if you set up on 128 on the alfalfa field, they almost always fly over at barely treetop level. Would be able to get a little pass shooting at least.
