Posted - 05/07/2009 : 14:43:29 I am going to list some important dates and prices for those who plan to go out of state or pondering making a trip for the first time. I have a few problems with our process to hunt out of state.....Still, its a really nice bonus we have for those that want a great trip with some phenominal hunting. I will also add some local info for those that need a reminder.
Iowa Application period May 2 - June 7 Any deer/antlerless-only license Tags...... $423 Antlerless deer only..... $226.50 Hunting License...... $80.50/$110.50 Habitat fee......... $11.50
You can also buy and bank a pref point for next season, costs $50.
Kansas Application period May 1 - June 1 Archery/Firearm/Muzzleloader tags $322.50 Any sex whitetail Add $102.50 for and opportunity to change tag to Mule deer. Can only do this for MZ and archery. NR are not allowed to shoot a Mule deer with rifle. Pref point only is $22.50 General license also required.....estimate $72.00 You apply by unit and season/weapon.
Illinois Application Period Archery...Tags go on sale live June 1, sold until quota of 21,000 tags met. Last year tags were still around for 30 days. Costs $400 plus general license You must also buy a $5.50 Habitat stamp and a general license, 5 day $28.75, Annual $50.75. Firearm and Muzzleloader, Apps become available for draw in July. Costs $300 and must apply by unit.
Missouri Deer tags are over the counter. Most of the state is in a 4 points one side or better antler restriction. Archery $225 firearm $225 General license might be required. I will check into it. I do know you can shoot two turkeys on the archery tag. MO is a NR friendly state.
Ohio Deer tags are over the counter, costs are $24 but you need to buy a general NR license which runs $125. Another NR friendly state. You use our regular reservation system with no extra fees if its through ASC properties.
Shiawassee federal reserve deer Hunts, apps run Mid June - August 1
Montana, its past the deadline. Wyoming also, but you can buy a pref point for deer in elk in August for next season WY hunts. Elk is $50 and I think deer is $25.00. Some states have leftovers. Colorado has over the counter in some units and seasons.
AWA has expanded in several states. You can hunt just about any game big or small through AWA. Grizzly and caribou are not quite there yet. One club owner does own a outfitter service in BC if one wants to go above the border for those. He is not cheap!
I have links and permits/forms for most states. If you need any help or have a question get a hold of me.
