Hello everyone. Well it was the last day of the 2008 turkey season and after 15 years of trying to harvest a turkey I was finally successful. I killed a beautiful 20 lbs tom, 10 in beard, 3/4" spurs today @ 8am. I was hunting the Yale farm (units C&E). I set up in the woods in unit E (overlooking west side of unit C). Tom and hen came out 100 yrds out and would not come in to my calling. As they headed towards unit B, I took off through the woods (E) and made to the logging road on C. As I moved up towards the unit B field, I could see the tom in full strut. So I got as close as I felt comfortable and set-up over looking the logging road. Sure enough, the tom came back down the logging road on C, headed to the woods of E. At 20 yrds my 870 did the trick. I was jumping up and down and screaming my head off. It stiil doesn't seem real as I type this. I haven't missed a turkey season in 15 yrs. (with no success)I am a new member this year for ASC. I would just like to thanks, first of all, the enitre staff at ASC. Ecspecially Todd Aleaxander, who answered all 2 million questions I had when I first joined. Also, to everyone who posts their hunting stories. Frank Manning, your story about your tom this year gave me the idea to try to cut off these birds today. I couldn't figure out how to post a picture. I will send one to the staff (heads up Todd). Also, thanks to my wife (in case she reads this) for always understanding (I think) and supporting my hunting. Thanks for always being so excited for me. I couldn't dial the cell phone quick enough this morning.

Happy Hunting, Randy Polega

Randy,
Congratulations. That is a heck of a tom. Glad I could be of some help. I haven't checked my emails since Saturday evening, spent all day yesterday in Port Sheldon fishing.
